The Michael Crouch Innovation Centre (the “MCIC”) is an emergent force fostering innovation to create a better world.
The MCIC operates through our physical centre and a digital network. Our physical centre includes a 360 square meter flexible space on the ground floor of the Hilmer building, and we also have access to meeting rooms, co-working and hot-desk spaces, exhibit space, storage and common areas in the lobby, first level and basement of that building. The MCIC network expands beyond the Hilmer building, through strategic physical nodes and an emerging digital platform. The MCIC is staffed by a diverse team of highly skilled facilitators, makers, designers, entrepreneurs and networkers, and it is powered by a large and growing community of collaborators across campus, in Australia and globally.
The MCIC’s brand promise is: “If we can’t help you find a better way, we will help you find someone or something that will. Within our centre and network, together, we will find a better way.” Grounded in UNSW’s ambitious 2025 Strategy, the MCIC’s big hairy audacious goal is: “The MCIC is the leading university-based innovation network in Asia-Pacific by 2025.” Building upon best practice internationally, the MCIC serves all faculties, all divisions and the community. Originally launched within UNSW’s Division of Research, the MCIC was transferred in August 2016 to become one of the founding portfolio units/teams of UNSW’s new Division of Enterprise.
