The MCIC toured a series of rural venues in NSW’s central west in partnership with Code Club, Three Farm, IDX, dLux Media Arts and Orana Arts to bring hands on high tech experiences to a diverse audience in the region. The MCIC team focused their resources on training and equipping teachers and community leaders with the skills to continue the Makerspace experience and to this day Dubbo’s first makerspace continues as a direct result of this tour.

The MCIC also regularly supports the Aspire program, providing Design Thinking workshops and high touch experiences in the Makerspace for students from disadvantaged schools. The Team regularly supports other Outreach programs already running at UNSW and in particular The Faculty of Engineerings program “Women in Engineering” aimed at inspiring young women to study engineering, support women already studying at UNSW, and celebrate the successes of female engineering graduates.

Our local and regional outreach allows the MCIC to engage young people in the experience of design, technology and creative learning, and to create new opportunities for participants to imagine their future through education. All our programs have generated exciting connections and conversations that are unlocking clear pathways to further study. Help us create the next generation of innovators as we scale our programs and look for partners to join us.
